Daffodil Parade

posted Apr 19, 2013, 1:14 PM by Brad Collins   [ updated Apr 19, 2013, 7:00 PM ]

This year's Daffodil Parade ended up being a comedy of errors with bad weather. We are just glad we had our rain capes!
This weekend is the Junior Daffodil parade in Tacoma. Although the weather is not supposed to be any better, we hope our luck is better al around!

50th Annual Tartan Ball

This year's annual Tartan Ball may be our biggest yet. We had over 700 people in attendance and the place was packed. All of the bands sounded great and our surprise guest - Seattle Seahawk's Blue Thunder - brought down the house!
Thanks to Free Rain for superb dance music and Phil Lawson for an excellent guitar solo - what a great show!
Next up is our Gran Daffodil Parade on April 13th. Hope to see you there!

Tacoma Highland Games

posted Jun 26, 2012, 7:38 PM by Brad Collins

Just when you thought it couldn't rain any more and that your kilt was as wet as it could possibly be, it really gets serious and pour for most of the day. Such was the Tacoma Highland Games! Although it was a tough day for piping, we took first place in the band competition and a 3rd in quartet. Our drum corps was particularly on their game, so congratulations for a well deserved prize!

Marysville Strawberry Festival

posted Jun 19, 2012, 11:39 AM by Brad Collins   [ updated Jun 19, 2012, 11:40 AM ]

The rain held out for us at the Marysville Strawberry Festival Parade. Along with the Seafair Pirates, we rocked Marysville's world. Some good piping and drummer happened afterward in the Pub. You should have been there! We learned how to scare off bears, too...

Port Townsend Rhododendron Parade

posted May 25, 2012, 7:11 AM by Brad Collins

What a great day for a parade. The sun was shining, the rhododendrons were in bloom, and the the crowd was pumped. Thanks to the Uptown Pub, the American Legion, and the downtown business who supported us this year. We love Port Townsend...see you next year!

We blossomed in Wenatchee...

After a first rate breakfast in Cle Elum, at the Cottage Cafe, the band traveled to Wenatchee for the Apple Blossom Festival Parade. The weather was beautiful and the parade went off without a hitch. Afterwards, we headed down to the American Legion Post 10 to say hello. We played a few crackin' sets there, while being graciously rewarded for our efforts with copious amounts of applause... And refreshments! Being in the spirit of Cindo de Mayo, some of the troops ended the day with a meal of Mexican Food back in Cle Elum. A fun time was had by all, we did well and let them all say Gordon! Thanks to the city of Wenatchee and the Applarians for having us, we're looking forward to next year already!

Daffodil Parade

posted Apr 20, 2012, 4:19 PM by Brad Collins

We had fantastic weather this year during all three parades! We left our rain capes at home and brought our sun block. Although three parades make for a long day, this is one of our favorites. Thanks to Sharkey's Pub in Sumner for having us and letting us hang out and rest and have a few pitchers.

Grand Daffodil Parade

posted Apr 10, 2012, 6:57 AM by Brad Collins

The Grand Daffodil Parade kicks off this Saturday in downtown Tacoma. Our band has marched in this parade for a great many years. We always look forward to starching our tunics, shining our shoes, and polishing our pipes for this parade. Hope to see everyone there!
